Monroe School District is asking voters to approve a bond proposal during the February 10, 2026 special election. The proposition would authorize the Monroe School District to improve building, safety and security systems districtwide; create the new Sky Valley Education Center at the Wagner Center; build a gym and remodel portions of Frank Wagner Elementary; replace the Salem Woods gym and add classroom; enhance special education and early learning facilities; improve athletic fields and expand public access by issuing general obligation bonds in an amount that will not exceed $152,048,846.

What Does It Fund?
🏫 School Modernization & Expansion
• Modernize, repurpose, and expand the Wagner Center for use as the new Sky Valley Education Center
• Demolish the existing Sky Valley Education Center
🏗️ Completion of Ongoing Capital Projects
• Complete the new gymnasium and renovate the 1989 wing at Frank Wagner Elementary
• Replace the Salem Woods Elementary gymnasium and add a classroom
👶 Early Learning Facility Improvements
• Create dedicated restrooms, play areas, classroom storage, and space enhancements at Salem Woods, Chain Lake, Maltby, Frank Wagner, and Fryelands Elementaries.
🌈 Special Education Facility Enhancements
• Expand and improve facilities to better support special education programs, including new storage, support areas, play areas, restrooms, and expanded spaces at Salem Woods, Maltby, and Frank Wagner Elementaries, and Hidden River Middle School.
🛠️ District-Wide Safety & Infrastructure Upgrades
• Major building system improvements, safety updates, and ADA access enhancements across multiple schools, including:
-Emergency response upgrades
-Fire sprinkler expansion
-Play area improvements
-Heat pump and refrigerant updates
-Flooring and stair replacements
-Security and access control upgrades
-ADA accessibility improvements
(Sites include Chain Lake, Fryelands, Frank Wagner, Maltby, and Salem Woods Elementaries; Hidden River and Park Place Middle Schools; Monroe High School; the Wagner Center; and the Frank Wagner and Salem Woods Gyms).
🏠 Roofing Projects
• Roofing improvements at Maltby, Fryelands, and Chain Lake Elementaries; Hidden River Middle School; Monroe High School; and the Transportation Bus Barn, Offices, and Garage.
⚽ Field & Facility Updates
• Upgrades at Marshall Field, Memorial Stadium, Old Park Place Ballfields, and Frank Wagner Fields.
What Does It Cost?
Project cost estimates account for projected inflation through 2028, when most proposed projects are expected to be completed if voters approve the measure in February 2026. Actual costs may vary depending on project schedules but will not exceed the voter-approved maximum of $152,048,846.
If approved by voters, the bond is projected to cost $0.62 per $1,000 of assessed property value.
